711 comes through with a winning choice again. My local 711 now carries Bluepoint Toasted Lager. How do I know this? Because I am drinking it right now. That's right, it's just me, a sixer of Bluepoint Toasted Lager, and DUEL. Could life get any better than this? I'm home.... nothing sabotaged yet...... the dog is watching from the steps with the Kong in his mouth and my butt stinks...... all in all, a pretty normal evening around this here household. word! So it might be Halloween, but you would think it's HalloWEENIE with the stuff Bdiginz is pulling!! He brought in a copy of our old band's (Dirge) demo and started showing our pictures to all these people I work with!!! He shall feel the wrath for this one!!! Serg, Aut we must band together and start scavenging all old pictures of Brian and make a collage I can hang in the lunch room!!! That'll show the daggler!!!!! Happy Halloween everyone. I think I'll be spending my evening (hopefully) setting up for Saturday's recording. Anyway, ALL of you should be heading to North 6, in Brooklyn, tonight for the debut gig of Stan Levine and His Party Machine!!!! They'll be playing all of your favorite bar/bat mitzvah hits, such as, "Hot Hot Hot", by Buster Poindexter, "Ice Ice Baby", by Vanilla Ice, "Celebration", by Kool and The Gang, and many, many more!!!!!! This is an event to surely not be missed. If I didn't have work to do I'd be in there, too!!!!! There will be surprises, too!!! In addition to that fine entertainment, you'll be treated to the sweet sounds of Rival Schools United By Fate!! Still not convinced?? It's only $8 at the door to get in!!! I thought that would seal the deal. Well, whatever you wind up doing, enjoy your evening and stay safe. This is that old pirate on the Garfield Halloween special saying,"mmuuuuuaaaaaahhh ah ah ah ah ah ah aah ah!!!!!!!!". Later. Tuesday, October 30, 2001
3 days left until the new recording begins. My crazy Renaissance Tragedy teacher pushed our Midterm back from this Thursday to next Tuesday. Now that's what I'm talking about! On a serious note, tomorrow is Halloween. With all the craziness that has been going on with the war on terrorism, I hope everyone out there stays safe. There is a lot of talk about more possible attacks this week. If this is true, let's hope they are intercepted. Be safe, but don't stress out. Stay possitive! xo One cup of coffee for the price of two, one washed guitar pick, and The Beastmaster is on television. Sounds like a fun night to me. I haven't seen The Beastmaster in years (could be a good thing, could be a bad thing). There's nothing like the hammed up acting of Marc Singer to liven ones night. "I'll call you Codo! Don't worry, you'll get a name too. Podo! Codo and Podo (talking to the ferrits).........I'll call you Rah! (talking to the tiger). Do you remember the TV series "V"? Yup, that was Marc Singer as well, playing photojournalist "Mike Donovan," the leader of the rebel resistance. I used to love that show. What could be better than mouse-eating, lizard-faced, space aliens bent on total world domination, who wear masks which make them look like human beings. BADASS!!! Unfortunately, Marc Singer's career went to crap after "V". At least in my opinion it did. They should not have made the two Beastmaster sequels. Career killers! Monday, October 29, 2001
Well, well, well, it's another Monday morning and all is well. My trusty cup o' coffee is by my side and Fugazi is in the CD player. So this past weekend was a 48 hour binge of rock, and GOOD rock, at that. We're looking to start recording this coming weekend. I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it, woo hoo, hoo-hoo hoooo..... sorry for the Pointer Sisters reference. Anyway, the Mac is doing well and I'm finally getting a handle on Cubase. It's a simple enough program to get up and running, but it has a bunch of features that are amazingly useful. You just have to find them. I'm borrowing an amazing amount of gear to make this happen. I can't believe it's coming together. Ok, well for those of you who haven't heard, we all attended the Death Cab For Cutie show this past weekend, at the Bowery Ballroom. My man, if you missed it, you blew it. What a show. That band is more amazing live than on CD because they sound just as good live as on the disc but with waaaaaayyyyy more energy. I want their bassist to join our band, but I know it's not happening. On Sunday, it was the Halloween extravaganza starring On The Might Of Princes, Subterfuge, Every 40 Seconds, Last Picked At Dodgeball, and others. Then again, maybe I should say it starred Jane's Addiction, Gorilla Biscuits, Nirvana, Silent Majority, and others. What an amazing show. All of the bands did an amazing job of covering, hell, replicating the bands they were paying tribute to. Good show everyone! Back to the recording thing for a second. I just realized that our "thanks" section is going to be huge for this next record. Ok, back to work. word. Sunday, October 28, 2001
A big thank you to Austin for buying me a ticket. Death Cab For Cutie is wonderful. I haven't had that much fun in a long time. Also a big thank you goes out to Sean for giving me a lift to see On The Might Of Princes do an wonderful cover of Janes Addiction those cats rock. Three Days is one of my favorite songs. Don't forget to check out this band called The Prom they rocked as well with DCFC. Goodnight. Here's a little sumptin-sumptin for any Death Cab fans out there. I was doing some searches this morning, and found a couple of little gems. They are a couple of live versions of cover songs. Here they are, download at will! Eurythmics: Here Comes The Rain Again Tears For Fears: Head Over Heels I'm sure the rest of the guys are going to be expressing their love and admiration for Death Cab due to the incredible show we all came from tonight, so I will keep my comments to a minimum. Tonights show was one of the best Rock shows I have ever, ever, ever, ever, ever gone to in my life. Sheer perfection! In addition, I now consider Death Cab to be short guy rock. Not because of their stature, but because their were not a lot of extremely tall people in my line of sight. That's what I call a good time. Yes, good times, good drinks, good people, good rock....and a cover of the Eurythmics song Here Comes the Rain Again. WOW! Love that Death Cab For Cutie. GOODNIGHT!!! Saturday, October 27, 2001
Friday, October 26, 2001
I second that thought. Fridays are damn good days! And, Tuesdays are a waste of time....don't need 'em! I washed my car today at the Bayport "ghetto" carwash. If you haven't ever gone there, you should try it. It's almost like washing your car. I say "almost" because my car is still dirty. I don't necesarily blame the carwash, I am just saying that if the setting says "high pressure wash" it should get the gunk off my car without any hassles. Well, it does look much cleaner. I just wish the strange substance that appeared on the rear drivers side of my car would go away. But what do you expect from a $4, 12 minute car wash anyway. FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!! pheeeewwwww, I feel better now. I love Fridays. I must say that no other day in the week can even come close to a Friday. Think about it; nothing comes close. Like Thursday, for an example, sucks. It's a total tease. At work it's a casual day, so no ties. That's the only thing good about Thursdays, except for practice at night. Wednesday? eeeeh it's ok, I suppose. After all, it represents the mid-week hump and all, but it's still not nearly as good as a Friday. Tuesday? Why does it even exist? It's completely pointless. It just takes up space between Monday and Wednesday. Now, I'm sure some of you have things happening on days other than Friday that are important or fun, so you look forward to those days. However, if you remove any extraneous outside influence, like hanging out with a friend or some sort of club or activity, Friday is the hands-down winner. The way I see it is that with Friday, sure you might have school or work, but it's the last day before the weekend. So now you're sitting there saying,"but Sean, if being before the weekend is so good, why isn't Saturday or Sunday better?". I'll tell you why, Sparticus. The reason is that once you're into the weekend, a part of it is already over. Like you might think that Saturday is better because you get to hang out during the day and still go out late with no worries because you have Sunday to recover. That's all well and good, but you only have ONE night to do that. Sure you have to work or go to school on Friday, but you get TWO nights to do your thing, AS WELL AS, TWO DAYS!!!!! For my money, Friday is the best deal going. You can't touch it. No way, no how. Plus, more often than not, Friday is payday. Cash in your hand and a FULL two nights and days off??? If you're a betting man and you bet against me, you just lost. Friday is KING!!! Case closed. So Dr. Ira is going to check out the Mac Daddy and do a few more upgrades and tweaks to it. It's definitely a cool piece of equipment. I will most definitely keep my PC, but the Mac is winning me over, more and more. So it's a Friday, a Mac day, and a pay day. I don't think it's been this good in a while. Be on guard. Something is bound to go wrong. Ok, time to refuel. Later!! Practice makes perfect, but it also makes your ears ring. We start the new recording a week from Saturday. This is very exciting for us. Can't do it this Saturday because we are going to see Death Cab. Also, on Sunday there is a crazy Halloween show at Rembrants in Hicksville. A bunch of bands playing as other bands. Our friends, On The Might Of Princes will be rocking out as Janes Addiction as well as the Microwave Orphans playing as the Dead Milkmen, Last Picked at Dodgeball as Quicksand (or Danzig....I don't quite know for sure), and some other bands who I can't remember at the moment. Go down and use your imagination. It ought to be fun. Later! Thursday, October 25, 2001
Well I have returned. Bass Day 2001 was a success. If you don't mind settin up bass cabinets for demo's then breaking it all down back into the boxes. After 7 hours of all sorts of people slapin and popin at half volume. It takes a toll on your whole body, I'm still trying to recover. It was worth it. I just got this call on my cell phone It was someone listing to their car radio and changing the channels. People are crazy. Well I must eat veggie burger. I just called the number back and to my surprise it was our friend Jay H.but it was really his girlfriend with his phone she had informed me that their dog had hit the button that directed the call to my cell phone. I informed her that the Beatles sound pretty good in Georgia. Well Jay if you are reading this it was nice to hear from your dog. Hope all is well. Later. B-China It's thursday, my class is over for today leaving one more day (three more classes) until Death Cab For Cutie. I am estatic, Chuck (said with the voice of Tracy Morgan imitating Mike Tyson). Still can't get over the new Hey Mercedes. Not much to say right now. At least nothing interesting. Later! Wednesday, October 24, 2001
Thanks to Sean, I have a new wallpaper up on my trusted computer. It is a picture of the Jackson 5 with a sixth member. The additional member is our friend Alfonso with an afro superimposed on his head. Now you would think this was a joke formulated inside the evil, comedic mind, but in truth it was created by Alfonso himself and sent to Sean. GENIUS, ABSOLUTE GENIUS!!! Sean attached the picture in a reply to a previous e-mail. In an attempt to save the picture in the "My Pictures" file, I somehow ended up applying it as wall paper. I had to go to school so I was going to remove it when I got home, but seeing that picture pop up made me realize it seemed to fit. So, I kept it. The rest as they say, is whatever was left over from the initial! My son is doing well. I had him checked out by the doctor and he said all is well. Ira is the resident Mac expert, here at work. I'm hoping to pick up a new monitor before we actually start recording..... gotta do the brakes on the crapper. Hopefully, I can get away with just having the rotors cut this time..... too damn expensive to keep replacing them...... wow I had such good intentions for this blog and I'm blowing it. Well, I have a ton of work to get done today, so I'm out. I might just check in tonight with the kid!!!! Later! I can't wait for saturday night, DEATH CAB, it will help me forget all the shit that I have trudged through this weeek. One too many projects for school due, and enough sleep. I am exstatic about turning sean over to the dark side, (yes he finally bought the mac) it is light years better than my neolithic G3 ( yes it is a manilla case). POO POO to YOU!!! Tuesday, October 23, 2001
The Eagle has landed, I repeat, the Eagle has landed! Tower Records comes through with the rock in my moment of need (and at a reasonable price I might add). Yes, I took that long drive to Massapequa and found the Hey Mercedes: everynight fire works CD. Let me just say this about it: HOLY SHIZNAT!!! This album was well worth the wait (since August 7th). Every song is a masterpiece. I can't get over how good it is. Don't hesitate, go out and get your copy today. And while you are at it, go pick up ticket to go see them at the Vanderbilt on Monday, November 19th. Tickets are onsale at Ticketmaster for about $12.50. They are listed under "Saves the Day" since they are the headliners. I plan to leave after Hey Mercedes. No sense killing ones ears listening to crap. Over & Under! I went to None of The Above today looking for the Hey Mercedes CD, but they did not have it, nor did they know that it was due out. next I went to Record Stop and was told the same thing. THE FOOLS! The Tower Records website has it listed as being in stock, so I will make the treck out there. It will be mine, OH YES, IT WILL BE MINE! (updates on the CD's whereabouts will come later). It's Tuesday, October 23rd. You know what that means, right? HEY MERCEDES: Everynight Fire Works comes out today! BOOYA! Monday, October 22, 2001
Christopher Walken is the man! This is what makes the SNL reruns so amazing! HOST: Christopher Walken Musical Guest: Weezer GOOD TIMES!!! Thank you, thank you. I'm a proud father, but it's going to be a few days before she walks. I'm taking it into work and getting the full treatment of OS 10.1 and 9.2.1 so she'll be running like a champ. Gooooooooodnight all. I have one thing to say.......................... GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG4444444444444444444444444.............BITCH!!! OVER AND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaahhhhhhhhh my first blog of the day. I'm running on a different kind of fuel this morning. I feel pretty good, so far. I'm hoping I don't crash..... listening to The Clash...... "You start wearing blue and brown, and you're lookin for the clampdown!!"..... I almost caught a boot in the head when I mentioned to a few friends, here at work, that I had never heard the whole record. Needless to say, the CD was foisted upon me immediately and I've been rockin' ever since. Yesterdays shows were so much fun. I thought for sure there was imminent disaster on the horizon, but all went well, nothing was broken, and I had an amazing time with all of it. Much love, thanks, and respect goes out to Oscar Wagonbuckler and Spassado for the shows. You guys rule. I got to check out the Break Even comp finally. We have to send out a check for our share of the discs. Great stuff, Pete. Thanks buddy!!! So Wednesday is the projected landing date of the eagle. After that, it's a crash course in learning a different way of looking at things. I'm very curious to see how it will go. I've been assured that it's not that drastically different from the crap that I'm used to, but we'll see. Ok, back to the grind. One last thing before bed. I picked up the new split CD that The Cotton Weary is on. HOLY SHITE! It is sooooo good! The Cotton Weary's two songs are the best on the CD, though the Pop Unknown (ex-Mineral), Slackjaw, and A Dim Halo songs are all damn good as well. The December Drive songs....well...I'll just say it, they are kinda weak. They start out good, but just fall to crap. I could not figure the first of their songs out at all. Regardless, go out and buy this CD as soon as possible. It is called "A House Divided" and is out on Break Even Records. That is all! Over & Under!!! Sunday, October 21, 2001
Two shows...Too much fun! My body is exhausted though. This Years Model rocked soooooo hard! Love that band! (That was at the Rick's show) ...Then we travelled to Huntington to rock out a second time at Spassado's house. Much fun! Lou is an animal, he played two shows with us, then went on to play a show with On The Might Of Princes. Three shows in one day, as well as two practices yesterday. AMAZING!!! I should do some homework now, later on! Saturday, October 20, 2001
Ahhhh yes....finally the new recording will be under way. Sean says the Mac should be arriving on Wednesday, which means we may start the recording on Saturday......GOOD TIMES!!! Here's the order for the new album. With Every Idle Hour : The Distance Between 1) Random Acts 2) Getting the Last Word 3) Moxie 4) The Unluckiest in the World 5) Closing Credits 6) El Camino 7) 8 Hours to Athens 8) What She Was Doing 9) Collapser 10) The Distance Between 11) Untitled ************************************ We hope you like it! We are very excited to finally be getting this under way. ALSO: There is going to be a surprise track as well. GOOD TIMES!!! Still waiting on my car.....No wait, cancel that. It's done. As it turns out, the starter went AND the battery was leaking. $320.07 later, and I have a car again. WOO HOO!!! Well, as I had stated earlier this week, I'm off to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. If any of you want to meet me there, I'll wait till 10:30. Call me on the cell phone and I'll wait longer, but 10:30 is the projected order time. OUT!!! Brilliance has a new name, and that name is Memento!!! Alfonso, you were so right about this movie. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I am going to have to watch it a few more times before I finally believe my theory of what really happened. If you have not seen it, then you might as well get foolio tattooed on your head because that's what you are (heh heh)!!! Anyway, it's good...damn good.....hell, it's F#CKIN' BRILLIANT!!! Don't waste your time renting it. Go out and buy this film! Friday, October 19, 2001
Picked my mom's car up from the repair shop. Everything is running great. Sean much props on a good purchase. Surge straters suck hope all is well. I saw our local 7/11 Dewitt and purchased some Molson Ice BIE'RE. It's his B-day to day so gentlemen break out the birthday punches if you dare or just wish him a happy birthday. Off to get my drink on. It has been a long week.Austin are you still alive I called this morning to say hi but you were missing in action. Look me up some time. I will be home if anyone has nothing to do. CHillin with my cat mary jane. TA DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE MAC IS ON IT'S WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know what that means, boys and girls????? HMMMMMMMMMMMM?? Well, do you????????? THE NEXT RECORD IS STARTING SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN!!!!!!! Do you think I'm a bit excited? I thought for sure that I was going to come up short when I logged onto Outpost today, to order it. I placed the order anyway, and lookie what happened??!!?? I can't believe the order just went through. Crazy props to Dime, Capital One and, of course, Outpost for making this all possible. That's right, boys and girls, a lean, mean, recording machine is coming my way. For all you tech heads, it's a Mac G4, 466, 640MB of RAM, 40GB drive, blah blah, Gigabit ethernet, blah blah, Firewire, blah blah, onboard digital audio, blah blah, BLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I RULE!!!!! Ok, sorry about that. I got a little excited for a minute. Yeah, so get ready for some rock music. hehhehehehe Woke up, got a nose bleed, the starter in my car died, borrowed my brothers car which has an expired inspection sticker, took two midterms, hands hurt from writing....So what! I'm still in a good mood! I got an A- on a paper and can revise it to get an A.....AND....I have Duel! So you can take your bad day and piss off! (heh heh) Thursday, October 18, 2001
It took me forever to get up this morning. Set the trusted Mickey Mouse alarm clock for 8am and reset it a few times until I finally got up at 9:30am. Yeah I'm lazy! Now, time for your dailserving of irony. I tried to order a pair of sneakers from work last week (the Puma, "Roma"). I had them over the summer and let me tell you, they were the best sneakers ever! Well, they were unavailable; meaning nobody in the company had them. WELL, guess what showed up in today's shipment. Yup, you guessed it. A full size run of them. Yes, once again the "high tech" special orders system at Journeys comes through. Soooooo, I decided to buy them anyway. This way once the sneakers I bought last week die (stink too bad to wear) I will have the good old Roma's to fall back on. ALSO, as a consilation for the stress I suffered, I decided to finally trek over to FYE (formerly Record Town) and pick up a copy of the critically acclaimed, debut film from one Mr.Steven Spielberg. Yes, you guessed it...DUEL! NOW IT IS MINE....MUHAHA!!!!!! Jealous? Oh yeah! p.s.- An added bonus about Duel is that the screenplay, and original story, was written by Richard Matheson, who is credited with writing 16 episodes of The Twilight Zone. My favorite TV show of all time! As well as The Twilight Zone Lost Classics, and many other films. Check him out, he has written and/or contributed to several films & tv shows {ex: Jaw 3-D, Pit and the Pendulum, Stir of Echo's...he wrote the novel...the list is endless}. IN ADDITION: I just found ot that there is a 40th Aniversary Twilight Zone 6 DVD set available. It will be mine, oh yes it will be mine!!! Did somebody mention tofu. May I have some please.Surge you need to stop by and sample some of this baked tofu teriyaki that I have been sampling. It's out of this world. Thanks again for loanin me Death Cab For Cutie it rocks. Sean burned me a copy of the new Sense Field that to is rockin. I gots to go buy bolth of these albums. So I missed Knox Overstreet that sucks. Those cats rule. I will have to catch those guys another time. Well the pizza is here so I gots to be goin laters. Please pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..... yeah last nights show was an experience...... Intuit....Christ.... some good shite right there. Hell, I'm not even going to THINK about addressing how well dressed Knox Overstreet was.... quite the bonus on top of the great playing and songs..... alterna-brew in FULL effect, baby!!! Yeah, I know, it doesn't seem very alternative considering I've had it all week, but that's been mainly out of convenience.... and AGAIN the vice president of ops walks past as I'm blogging. I can't win. Even when I'm taking a short break to say a little somethin' somethin', I get caught. So Death Cab For Cutie is coming up shortly. Can't wait..... dun dun da duh dun dun na ni ..... "I'm in Los An-geles to-day, it smells just like an airport runway jet fuel, stench is in the cabin".... it's gonna be a night full o' rock, i'm tellin' you!!!! Ok back to work. Today was a weird day and for those who came down to rep-rep-represent at the show tonight, THANK YOU! I'm sorry about the show starting late, some things are just totally uncontrollable. Thank you both Intuit and Knox Overstreet for playing tonight, and for kicking arse. A big THANK YOU to everyone who stuck around till the end. I know it was late and it was a weeknight, we greatly appreciate it and love you for coming down and sticking around. THANKS!!! I just ate a veggie-pot pie. I honestly don't think I have ever had a pot pie in my life. It was good. Sean would love it....it had some tofu in it. Sean is a big fan of vegetables and he gets crazy over tofu. Shite, the man goes nuts for that stuff (tofu). OK, I'm out! Wednesday, October 17, 2001
My "Limited Edition: Death Cab For Cutie; The Photo Album" came in today. The bonus tracks are IN-FREAKIN'-CREDIBLE!!!! The Bjork cover is AMAZING !!! WOW!!! I can't wait for their show on the 27th. Are you going? If not, you should be! WOW!!!.......WOW!!!! What else needs to be said? ....WOW! I had something written and lost it somehow. Damn it. Anyway, yes, I was tortured by the Dirge demos. How horrible an experience. Hmmmm Anyway, we got a show tonight. I was informed that the info I put up on the show page is partially incorrect. The show is at Stony Brookand Intuit and Knox Overstreet are playing, but since it is 18 and over there is no alcohol being served. Also, it's only $5 at the door, so that's an improvement. Anyway, we hope to see you guys there. If not, it's totally understandable. Now, as for this rabble rouser that's threatening to auction off our demos on Ebay. A message to you, Mr. Blackmail: It won't work. No one knows who we are, so your plan is failed before it's even put into action. HA!!!!!!!!! Foolio, you thought you could get us, didn't you???!!??? Go ahead and try!!!! Your hopes shall be dashed, along with your legs!!!! You'll be known as Stumps McGee!!!!!......... sorry about that..... got a little over zealous there..... YEAH, so anyway, I hope your prayers to the Blog are going well, Alphonso.... don't buy a Cavalier..... I will be forced to laugh at you as you drive by in the tow truck with the lifeless Chevrolet attached to the tow hook........ by the way, Serg, I think people who partake in spam mailers should meet the same fate as serial killers..... they are quite the lowlifes.... Again, I got the alterna-brew this morning... quite dark, even though I asked for it to be light and sweet.... it's ok though..... almost lunch time..... So i'm considering rockin out tonight in my shirt and tie from work... that would be interesting.... or maybe just really dumb.... oh well. later I was attacked by spam this morning. I woke up and turned on my computer, as I do everymorning. This morning was a little different than most mornings though. You see, I saw that I had 223 e-mail, and as Iwas logging on to my e-mail account, more popped up. They were all coming from the same sender. I finnished off with 232 e-mails in by inbox. 230 came were the from the same spam sender. I immediately blocked this person and then went a bout erasing All the messages. I think this one spam sender really liked me. What a morning! Has it been two years already? Yeah, that's right....for shite's and gidget's, made Sean listen to some Dirge songs tonight. He was only subjected to clips and rewinds of s few the songs....minus "Son," I still hate that F#ckin' song (not that any of the songs are good though). I figure, he had a lot to do with the musical mockery that was "the Dirge Demo," so he needed a trip down old memory lane. Let me just tell you, it was just as funny tonight as it was on Saturday. He-larry-iss!!! Shite!!! I still have to restring the ol' axe for tommorow's rock-show! G'Night!!! Tuesday, October 16, 2001
Surge thats a great choice. I think I will blow the dust off them and listen to them all at work. Sean I sorry for the confusion I didn't have my glasses on when I saw your blog. Well gots to go more studing for my Ohm's Law quiz.Boys have a wonderful show and give my respect to everyone. I will be missin you cats. laters. So, like I said last night, I have been listening to Nirvana all day so far. I started out my tired, morning trek to school with some Nevermind, then switched to In Utero. I think I am going to rock some Incesticide on the way to work and back. I can really go for a little "Aneurysm" right about now (the song, not the sac formed by local enlargement of the weakened wall of an artery, a vein, or the heart, caused by disease or injury). You know what, I think I'll listen to that right now. Ah yes, this is a good song! I'm out! Damn!!! If only I had checked the blog before departing this morning, I'd have brought Nevermind with me. Oh well. Yes, they were a great band. I hope we get to do that tribute disc. I'd love to cover "On A Plain". Anyway, the Daggler is sorely mistaken. I wasn't asking for a bottle of Hennessey. I was calling for all of you (that's right, YOU) to join me at Hennessey's on Jericho Tpke. over by the Cross Island. Anyway, thanks to some idiot cutting me off this morning and me missing my exit as a result, I'm drinking a different brew this morning. It's mighty nice. In fact, I'm calling out to you all to meet me at Dunkin Donuts at like 10 on Saturday morning for breakfast. I'll be there if anyone is interested. By the way, the Dunkin Donuts I'm referring to is the one Sunrise Highway, in Bohemia, right next to Byron Lake Schwinn. Another fine establishment. Yeah, so meet me there for processed egg sandwiches and coffee, if any of you would like to, at 10 AM. Ok, back to work. It's late...or early for that matter.....I was trying to sleep off another manic monday, but I felt the urge to get one last blog in before I do sleep. Right before I got in bed, I decided to check the blue channel (14) to find out the name of some wacky movie on the scifi channel (48) that I scanned past. I noticed that MTV, a channel I normally avoid due to the lack of music they actually play and when they do is horrible, was actually showing Nirvana unplugged, as well as some sort of documentary about it. WOW! It's been so long since I listened to Nirvana. It's easy to say that they were a great band, but when you haven't heard them in while you tend to forget how great they actually were. I recommend everyone break out there Nirvana discs tommorow (or today as the case may be) and give them a listen. I know I will! Man, they were amazing. Goodnight! Give me the number. I can't wait to poke some fun at that crazy foolio at Bass Day on Sunday. That's right kiddies yours truly gets to spend the whole day with Freddy G.. I can't wait to go to Ash to get me some ear plugs. The DB level is up around 120db for most of the day it's harsh. Still ya get to see all the new products and some fine music gets played. I forgot to mention I'm gettin over time for this one. But on a bad note I will be missing bolth shows on Sunday. I dislike missing good shows. No forget that last post. Anyway, so I bought this new soundcard yesterday and of course it was giving me problems till this evening, when I took it out, and thrashed it, and stomped it, and ..... well ok, so maybe I didn't any of those things. Ok, yes, all I did was remove and reinstall the software. That's just boring though...... so Freddy G is back in town from Florida. He said they lost his luggage at the airport in Orlando, for 2 days. He claims he bought a bunch of "those t'ree dolla I Love Orlando shirts and a cheap pair a shorts.". By the way, that was meant to be read with a Brooklyn type accent. If you didn't get that from the intentional misspellings, go back and read it again, as if you were a cast member of The Sopranos. Go......GOOOOO.. .....I'll wait.................... .................. there, you done?...... ok , so anyway, I'm tired. As always, I'm on the lookout for a chick pea so if anyone has a line on a CHEAP Marshall JCM800, 50 Watt, please let me know. ssssssssnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr NICE! NICE! What's this say?....Fraageele', I think that's Italian. I think that says Fragile, dear...Oh!............. It's..it's a major award!.... It's a leg!..... I said it, the queen mother of all dirty words, I said the F--- Word!.......Sons-a-bitches Bumpuses!!! It was, It was soap Poisoning! Ok hold the dirt. I have stopped the pressing of that crappy dirge demo tape and have taken it off ebay. You can now continue with today's regular scheduled program. The B man is off to learn more about that damn ohm's law.To many formula's!!!! MONDAY, MONDAY, MONDAY!!! It just doesn't have the same ring to it. I never know what time it really is. The clock in my room says 4:35, the comp says 4:45, the comp at work says 4:28, the blogger will probably come up 4:41......Does any one know what time it is? A little after 3am and my papers done. Wait, you mean I'm not going to be up until 6am this time? Well, there's a first time for everything! Oh yeah, it's raining! Get out your raincoats and umbrella's. It's going to be a blustery day. Feeling powerful today, huh? Well, don't forget, we know where you live and sleep. Also, we have some dirt on you, Mr. Entrepreneur tape salesman! Hmmmm...can you say blackmail? MUHAHA!!! Sarcasm is a beautiful thing boy's.You guys blew it I already started running off copies to sell on Ebay. I can't wait till the money starts rolling. Ha Ha Ha!!! Sunday, October 14, 2001
Sunday night....weekends go way to fast. I ahve a paper to write tonight. How exciting! I should be doing that right now, but obviously I'm blogging. I paid $25 (plus tax) for the official MLA Style Manual. I got tired of using the incorrect style of footnoting and having the teacher write " MLA, MLA, MLA" on my papers. I guess she was trying to tell me something. I now have my third class with her, so I figure I will spare her the ink and do it right this time. This will also come in handy for writing in general, but who the heck wants to pay $25 (plus tax) for a book on writing papers. By putting it on my credit card I am only delaying the agony. OK, I'm going to write this now.....no really, I'm going........don't believe me, huh? Well watch this.............I'm going, don't rush me.........I'm really going to do it this time. I'm serious!......Here goes nothing ............ummm.............uhhh...............hmmmm.......AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! OK, I'm leaving now! LATER ON!!!!! I made the mistake of mentioning to Austin that I had a copy of our old band's demo in my car. Yes, that's right, DIRGE! I don't know why I mentioned it, in fact I don't know why I have it in my car. I should have burned the evidence a long, long time ago. Yeah, it's pretty damn awful. Well, he wanted to listen to it. So, after hanging out in the 711 parking lot for a good twenty minutes or so and drinking a 16oz coffee a piece, we were ready for the torture. Let's just say that during the first song Austin was asking me to take it out of the stereo. NOPE! We made it through all seven gut wrenching songs. WOW, we were terrible. I mean, we were worse than we remembered. Good for a laugh, but that's about it. It was pretty freakin' funny. Anyone who was not in the car with us blew it. That tape won't resurface for at least another two years. This Years Model =Great F#cking Rock Music!!!! Good times at the Continental tonight. I have my pre-release copy of the new demo. Jealous? Oh yeah you are! Saturday, October 13, 2001
So if the rain doesn't rear its ugly head tommorow I will be off to GreenPort, LI to hit the nice six foot half pipe, that the town skate park has to offer. When I say hit,I mean that I'm going to be falling all over it. I need some more time on the big stuff. It's huge. I have missed that ramp. Just the dropin is one of the greatest feelings I have ever felt. Got to go I have some school work thats got to be done so I can enjoy the day. Yeah so, uh, I guess we're HUGE in Korea, due to the confusion with the name and all. Humpf, the nerve of that guy... well I guess the sarcasm just doesn't translate through the ol' Blog. I need a haircut BADLY. The whole dead-possum-on-top-of-the-head look just isn't workin for my rotund arse..... Going to do sound for a friend's band tonight. Yes, I will be in Astoria for this occasion... Bdigz is giving me way too much credit for those smith grind wannabes I was pulling...... breakin' out the old school flavor tonight, boy. I just found a tape of our live performance at The Spot from Oct. of '99.... this will DEFINITELY be good for a laugh......... NO, no one else can hear it and laugh along.... we were such meatballs at the time.....ok well we're still meatballs, but at least our sauce isn't from the jar anymore!!!! Ok, my jokes suck..... I'll finish packing the van now. We finished our new song today. Not to toot our own horn, but TOOT! We are all very excited about this one. We decided to add this one to the roster for the new CD. Sean should be getting the new computer in the next two weeks (we''ll see....heh heh). If that is true, we will be starting the recording very soon. WOOO HOOO!!! It will be filled with what we hope will be pleasant surprises (aka: new songs...other than the ones we play all the time). Stay tuned! Had a great time tonight. It was the first time Jackie and I had been into the city since the Jimmy Eat World/Hey Mercedes show on September 4th. It was sad to think about what happened a month ago. It really hits home once you go in. I have to say one thing though. As we were crossing the BQE and getting our first glimpse of the cityscape, it looked more beautiful than it has ever. Ofcourse there is a feeling of loss when you don't see the twin towers, but...I don't know, maybe it is the feeling of newfound love for the country, maybe it was the feeling of community that has developed as a result of the attack....call it what you will, but it was truly beautiful. It was like the first time going into the city. The way the lights just draw you in with the magic and spectacle, it's something so special that unless you have seen it for yourself, you can't understand. I have developed a new feeling of positivity over the last month. I felt it growing over the last few months, but since the 11th I have really felt it take hold of me. Life is too short. Regardless of the horrible aspects of human nature, life can be the most incredible thing. You just have to believe it. OK, 'nuf babble.....Come-Down was incredible tonight. I never feel let down by them. Lot's of good people came down to hang out and represent. Anyone who was not there, in the immortal words of Mike ROKLOK, "Blew it!" Good things coming our way. I got to hang with a two school chums from back in the day. Got fatted out with Sean at the Airport Diner. Then to top it off Sean and I ran into Austin sportin his Chrome dome hair cut very smooth I say. A budding Cojack or Mr. Clean. And to top it off Sean blew the dust and cob webs off his skateboard and we sessioned some inbankment behind Symbol Tech. the boy still has got the magic. He did a smith grind on a curb without wax or paint. This guy is breakin out his old school ways. Sick!!! Friday, October 12, 2001
FRIDAY...PARTY....OH YEAH!!! Going to see Come-Down tonight @Acme Underground. GOOOOOOD TIIIIIIMES!!! This weeks check did not show up yet. Maybe tomorrow. We'll see. Hey, at least last weeks check showed up. That's always a plus. One last thing and then I'll sleep. I was talking to Alphonso a few minutes ago and he told me that he spoke to some guy, who called his job, the other day. guess what the guys name was.....Ok, I'll tell you. The guys name was "Weih" (pronounced: Way). How wacky is that? He thinks the guy was Korean. that's awEsome!!! Aight, I'm out! I did not get to my laundry tonight, but I am going to attempt to do it really early before school. We'll see what happens. Goodnight! Whenever things seem grim and you feel like the world is against you, just remember these words and everything will be alright! I can see a new horizon Underneath the blazin' sky I'll be where the eagle's Flyin' higher and higher Gonna be your man in motion All I need is a pair of wheels Take me where my futures lyin' St. Elmo's Fire John Parr can really sing 'em, huh? If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it does it make a sound?....does it make a difference?.....Did you hear something? ....Do tree's suffer growing pains?.....Do you remember the show Growing Pains?.....It took place in Massapequa.....Is Martin Short funny?......Are you serious?.....hmmm, interesting! Last weeks check finally came today. WOO HOO!!!!! Hopefully, this weeks check will come tomorrow. I am giving it the benefit of the doubt that it is late because of the holiday. We'll see! Why the hell am I awake???? I didn't even drink anything earlier.. Ben Folds, don't fail me now. I'm counting on you to send me off to la la land. Thursday morning! I am about to go to sleep, but being the internet addict that I am, I had to check my e-mail again. I knew that I did not have anything new, but I always check just incase. Sometimes I get something this late at night. No really, I do! In a few hours I will be getting up and starting the daily grind once again. Hopefully both this weeks and last weeks paychecks will be waiting for me. If not, my last hope is Friday. My weekend depends on the arrival of them. the cold is finally going away. Thanks Tussin! I have a little bit of a scratchy throat, but the runny nose has eased up. WOO HOO!!! CMJ's long awaited showcase of the stars is now going on. Here are two shows you should all go to: >> FRIDAY: Come-Down @Acme Underground...for more info, go HERE! >>Saturday: This Years Model @the Continental...for more information, go HERE! That's all folks! Man class was weird. My teacher seems to forget to teach us some part of his lesson plan every class. Then gives home work that has alot to do with what he didn't cover that day. Damn cracker a$$ craker. But all these formulas in Ohm's Law are driven me wacky. I can remember the main three but there is more to this crazy law. Surge ya still illin. I think being around you this weekend has caught up to me as well. I can't stand gettin sick. Ah another gil sighting this mornig at 7-11. No words no visual eye contact. Strange. Well at least I see his truck all the time. Maybe he will stop doin drive buys and stop in some time. Joe G. and Rob C. stopped by last night that was weird as well. They gave me a flyer for the up comming ski trip.I don't think that I will be goin on that one.HAHA! Wednesday, October 10, 2001
No pay check yet, but the other stores on the Island received theirs today. I'll take that as a good sign! Maybe tomorrow I'll get 2 paychecks. that would be SHWEEEEEET! Either Blogger is still doing updates, or our webserver is messing with us again. Well, it always comes back. See you then! Tuesday, October 09, 2001
Oh yeah, they are definitely doing something to their servers. I went to the Blogger site and my info was not saved as it usually is. i had to log on as if it didn't know me. THE BASTARD!!! I took forever to log on after I typed in my info. Crazy stuff! Weird day! I till don't have any money...yup you guessed it, they still have not paid us. ALSO, my cold is still hanging on. I am currently sitting at the old comp with a tissue up my nose. I have blown my nose soooo many times that it finally gave out and began to bleed. I saw that coming from a mile away. It's hard to drink OJ when you have things sticking out of your nose. C'mon Tussin, don't fail me now! Well, tomorrow is another day. I have been in a really good mood lately and am not going to let any of this get me down. Let's hope this blog get's posted! Wow that pisses me off. I wrote that whole thing below, at 3 o'clock. It just posted now. These damn computers are going to be the death of me. Not being out of shape, or having a horrible diet, or driving like a moron in a tin can. The computers. They're out to get me. Oh well. It's nothing new. So I'm home now and just got some amazing news. I called my insurance company to make a payment and found out that I've been getting surcharged for an accident that isn't my fault for about, oooohhhhhhh, 3 YEARS!!!!!! Well, a little less than 3 years, but nevertheless, I've been getting hammered for 3 years on this thing and all along they said I wasn't being charged, but this time around the service rep slipped up and told me the truth!!!!!!!! Now she says I'm entitled to a refund of the surcharge, which she said is at least $50 PER MONTH!!! So I'm thinking that at $50 a month for say, 30 months, I should be seeing a sweet check. hehehehe it might be more!!!!! I'm so stoked right now, I can't even begin to get into it. That is an amp and monitors, right there. Or maybe my debts paid off, or maybe some serious maintenance on the car...hmmmm we'll have to see. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccce , is what I'm saying :). HAHAHA I KNEW I WOULD EVENTUALLY TRIUMPH OVER THE EVIL INSURANCE COMPANIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I feel a little better now. Sorry about that. Later It's a bit late in the day to be talking about this, but....I'm still bent about it. I HAD TO SCRAPE MY WINDOWS THIS MORNING!!!!!! Yeah, I know, get a clue, I live in NY....BUT STILL!!!!!!. I hate the cold. Granted the cool weather that we get during the peak afternoon hours is a welcome respite from the hot, muggy, and humid crap we call our summer "air", but this whole being freezing at night thing just isn't working. Granted, if it doesn't get any colder for the rest of the winter, I'd be a happy camper, but we all know that isn't happening. I really need to move to a nice year-round warm climate such as Southern California. I'd be so much happier knowing that it rains about 5 times a year, and cold air??? HA! If it drops below 65 during the winter, I think the cities shut down. Now, THAT'S my kind of town..... who am I kidding? I'll never leave NY. I'm too stuck in my ways. Oh well. I had a nice turkey and cheese sanggggwich today..... Hey Serg, that pic was awesome. It has made the rounds as what we will wind up getting when they decide to remodel this place... Oh well... Another thing, Serg, if you want a picture that brings a tear to the eye for your computers wall paper check this one out. All you have to do is right click on the picture when it comes up and then left click where it says "set as wallpaper" and, viola!, instantaneous beauty on your computer screen. Check it out, buddy! OK, now I'm pissed off! It is tuesday and the checks at work did not show up from last week. We should have received them last Thursday. Granted, yesterday was a holiday, but they should have definitely been there today. It's now 2:30pm and there are no checks. AAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! This means war! Hey Sean, here's a picture that goes along with "the Ultimate Toilet" conversations. Check it out! I am still thinking of more "Along for the ride" candidates. It's early....It's cold....I'm complaining....waaaahhhh....I have to go to school....I still don't have a paycheck....I'm still poor....I have a cold....I need some coffee....mmm, 711....It's time to shower....it's time for me to shut up.....!!! Good to have you aboard Captain. You are one crazy blogging machine. As for your question to Sean about the Mesa, the problem with it is the fact that it is not a Marshall. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! (just kidding...sort of) Hey anyone up for goin to the pet store with me? I need to get some supplies. Get in touch if anyone wants to ride. Sean thanks again for your help. Hello.. I'm cool as ice.No class for me tonight. Eatin pizza with the parental units. Surge hope ya feelin better. Austin do you still need that tire pressure gauge.I will bring it over if you like. Sean whats the deal with the marshall amp.Whats goin on with the MESA. It's blog,it's blog, it's fun to be ben blogger bossong.Triple "B" score. Bossong rules.. School on Columbus day?.....Ok, so maybe Columbus did not exactly discover America. So what if he did not know that he discovered anaything. And so what if his discovery only led to imperialism in Latin America......We gave the man a holiday! I should get a day off for this reason alone! Besides, I am feeling a bit under the weather. I have work still. That should be fun (hmmm...can you smell the sarcasm in that one?)! Hey Sean, getting a Marshall is a fine idea. Now you should look into getting a Fender. Ahhhhhh, Fender through a Marshall....what a great combo!.......Oh yeah, what's up with the purple shirt? Is it silk? That would rule! As for our new game.....I'm still thinking of more....a little help?...anyone?......? So i'm sitting here.... at work....... on Columbus Day....... the armed forces are bombing Afghanistan and the ruling Taliban regime..... I'm wearing a purple dress shirt... scary...... hmmmm..... I need a new amp..... well not new, but new for me........ if anyone of you have a Marshall JCM800 up for grabs, contact me, please..... I'm trying to kick the coffee habit in the morning...... It's tough.... I'm feeling the eyes start to glaze already.... damn caffeine..... so Serg, Diginz and I were having lunch yesterday and talking about "Who's Along For The Ride". It's a new game we're playing. It's kind of like "Jumped The Shark". The difference is ours is about what band members or bands are just along for the ride. In other words, they're nothing special or wouldn't stand a chance of making it if it weren't for someone else with talent. To give you an example, the bassist from The Cult is definitely along for the ride. Hell no one even knows his name!!! See how it works? If any of you have suggestions, we'll start to post them here. I figure we're only a couple people, but if we can get enough people going, well damn, we'll be able to devote a page to it!!! So, start thinking and tell us who you think is along for the ride. We might just devote a new guestbook to just that.!!! Ok, time to go back to work. Sunday, October 07, 2001
Man, I'm a blogging machine today......Here's a joke for you: A couple of cows were chatting over the fence between their pastures. The first cow said, "I'll tell you, this mad cow disease has got me a little spooked. They say it hit some of Farmer Johnson's stock." ......"I ain't worried," the second cow replied. "It don't affect us ducks." That joke comes to me courtesy of the October issue of Readers Digest. I really wish that SNL would stop showing the episode with Tom Green as the host. He just isn't funny. I will admit, I thought he was hilarious in Road Trip. Sadly enough, that was the only time I found him funny. The SNL episode sucks. WORST EPISODE EVER!!! Note to readers: Don't forget to check the links, they sometimes have hidden treats. What a nutty day! Thank you everyone who came out to get your ROCK on with us. It was great to see everyone out. Matt Galek: "Yeah, I came out to go to this diner down the road."...Lee & Beck: Can it be? These two crazy bastards left the store?...Schneider: "Dude, I was a Wrestling fan then, and I am still one now. WWF, WCW, NWO, ECW...all of them".......Good times, good times!!! Highlights: All our friends, Rock music, Lou explaining the magic of Austin, telling vomit stories from 1st grade (Lou's girlfriend Maries new favorite story...c'mon, you loved that story), Huey Lewis (always a great conversation piece), Towing This Years Model's Van,........so many things, so late a time! As for the Van towing, that was an AMAZING! This Years Model's van decided not to work all of a sudden. Is it out of gas?....nope that's not it. Hmmmm....Did you try the Fonzie technique?......several times, thank you. In the end, we found some rope in the van (thank's for the rope Dad). In addition to that we used some type of strap used for "strapping" objects to the back of an automobile (at least that's what Sean said...I think). Let me just tell you, Steve is an amazing driver! I would have totally smashed the back of the van if I was driving. It was a group effort...OK, Darren's in our Van with Sean? Ok, I'll hop in with Steve in their van....Where is everybody? Oh, they (Austin, Karen, and Brian) are riding in the pace car with Maria....Wait a minute, Brian's not in the car! There he is, directing us out of the parking lot...alright he's in the pace car.....If we make this turn onto Sunrise Hwy we will be OK. The place is only a mile down the road.....Slow down!....Here, push the red button, no push the green button....HAHA HAHAHA HAHA! It's the voice mail....Dammit, he left his phone off.....We're here? Yup!...WOO HOO!!!........And that's pretty much what happened! So a grilled cheese saaannnggggwich and curly fries got my $10 bucks tonight at 1:30am. Really was the most logical thing to do at that point..... I think I could go for a deuce drop but it's not quite there yet. hmmmm This Year's Model rocked the friggin house today as did Last Picked At Dodgeball, YET AGAIN!!! A big shout out and thank you to Chris, Jim(Lizard), Marie, MariA, Beck, Lee, and anyone else I might've forgotten about for coming down and representing. You guys are the bomb. Now if I can only get my hands on a 50 watt Marshall JCM 800, single channel, I'll be a happy man. That Mac is getting closer, boys and girls. You know what that means??? THE NEXT RECORD!!!!! Yeah, you're damn right I'm excited!!! Got the Cubase and the MOTU just waiting to get to work. Only a couple more weeks till the debut album from Hey Mercedes hits the shelves. What a glorious day that will be. OH I JUST REMEMBERED who I forgot before and he ain't just a person. No sirree, he's a MANimal. A crazy mo fo, if you will. That's right, you know I'm talking about now. Yes, BIG LUIG!!!! A HUGE thank you and shout out goes to our good friend Lou from On The Might Of Princes for filling in yet again. This guy, ladies and gents, has bailed our sorry asses out so many times from playing bass-less. Ok bed time. My 'puter's clock is reading 2:22. I'm done. toodles Saturday, October 06, 2001
I think I'm getting sick. Yup, I definitely have a cold coming on. Time to make some Green Tea with Honey. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.....that sounds good! Today is Owen from Knox Overstreets Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OWEN!!!............. Bartender, buy this man a drink! Friday, October 05, 2001
This just totally made my grim day a whole lot brighter. I found this on the official Come-Down website (Thank you Mr. Tom Mallon for this amazing little gem). If you like buddyhead, go HERE and check this out. If your day started out as wacky as mine, this will cheer you up. It's shaping up to be one of those days. I woke up this morning and ran a search on the "old web" for a story by Runyard Kipling, called The Man Who Would Be King. Luckily, I found it. I was pleased to see that the story, when printed, was only 9 pages long. This would make it possible to read it in full before my first class started.......Well, as it turned out, after reading the story and getting to my class I found out that I read the wrong story. What i had actually printed up was Runyard Kipling's The Man Who Was. AAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!! I really wasn't pissed. I laughed about it. In fact, some of my classmates laughed about it as well. After all, it was funny (by the way, the story I read, as well as the story I was supposed to have read, SUCKED!)..............Everything else went like clockwork. Until, I got out of my last class and headed for work. I was on my way to pick up my paycheck, which was supposed to arrive yesterday. My car had barely any gas in it and I was worried that I would run out of gas before I made it to the bank to cash my check. WELL....once again the paychecks did not arrive! Surprise, surprise, surprise!!! This is what happens when you are forced to live paycheck to paycheck, the check's do not come when you need them most. It's all OK though. It is now officially the weekend! To quote Jay Schneider, "BOOYA!!!" And you are? I am Sancho!....................................Are you Sancho? No you are not! Neither is Scott Baio, Sancho! Frank Giffoird he is not Sancho!........ Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more! Three more classes and then Weekend! Oh weekend, how I've missed you so! The Break Even comps are done and we should have copies soon! That's all for now!!! Wednesday, October 03, 2001
Who's the Blog Private-Blog that's a Blog Machine to all the Blogs? BLOG!...Blog right!....Who is the Blog that whould Blog his Blog for the brother Blog? BLOG!....Can you Blog it?....You know I Blog that John Blog is a Blog motha....Shut your Blog!....But I'm just Bloggin' about Blog!...And we can Blog it! Everybody get your BLOG on! 2 more days....4 more classes....then I get my Weekend on. Awwww Yeah!!! This Saturday Oct. 6th we will be rocking out once again. This time the show is at Backstreet Blues in Rockville Center. The bands playing are: Us (WEIH), This Years Model, Last Picked At Dodgeball, As The Ink Fades, The Radio Raheem, and one more that I can't remember at the moment. The show starts at 1:30pm. Stop by the DIYrevolution site for directions and stuff. Speaking of This Years Model....For those of you who haven't had a chance to hear them yet with their new vocal-madman Darren, now's your chance. They recently recorded a new EP with the infamous Don Fury and their are a few songs available for download. You can download two of the songs by going here. Just scroll down until you see them. OR, you can go two mp3.com and download one of the two songs. They are unbelievably kickass songs!!!! Plenty of rock! It's been a while since I posted anything on this page so I figured I would finally sit down and write about how your band sucks and my band rules and how I think that it's more important to me that I look better than I can play. it's not how many people listen to what your playing at shows. it's the amount of people that only come into see your band, and then leave to go outside and talk on thier cell phones. it's not about the music, it's about how many times you can cry between songs. it's not about coming together and making shows fun for everyone, including the musicians. it's about scapegoating those who don't fit into my clique. it's not about exposing yourself to new things, it's about measuring amount the of gel in one's hair. SARCASM--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IT"S A WONDERFUL THING Hey Sean, here's a few more for the list: The Fabulous Moolah, 'Classy' Freddie Blassie, 'Mr.Wonderful' Paul Orndorf, Kng Kong Bundy, Big John Studd, "The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Boris Zuhkov, Dusty Rhodes, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Hillbilly Jim, 'Iron' Mike Sharp, The Junk Yard Dog, 'Raveshing' Rick Rude, 'The Model' Rick Martel, Tugboat, Adrian Adonis.......whew! You guys should have seen the ones we mentioned prior to these. Maybe the original list will find it's way up eventually. Although, if you watched wrestling as a kid during the 80's you should already know. Tuesday, October 02, 2001

Monday, October 01, 2001
Monday's almost over, leaving only 4 more school days until my weekend starts. I'm counting the days! This Saturday we will be rocking out once again. The details are as follows: Us (witheveryidlehour), This Years Model, Last Picked at Dodgeball, As The Ink Fades, and The Radio Raheem. The show is at Backstreet Blues in Rockville Center. Starting time--1:30pm. For directions and shite, go to the DIYrevolution site. "Be there or be somewhere else!" Here's a little poem to cap off Monday night. It was written by our good friend Joe back in or High School days. Joe wrote this about the people who wrote poems for our Literary magazine. Every poem was about their "miserable lives." We saw it as typical High School whining. It's still hanging on my wall to this day. >>> "The Lit Mag"....or...."An Exercise in Apathy"....by Joseph Demers An Outlet for the spurned love and frustrated passion of angst-ridden adolescents Pouring out their souls onto the laminated pages to be exposed before their peers Seeking Acknowledgment of their sufferings and Comfort for their Alligator Tears And the only thought that enters my Cynical Mind: Who Cares? We all have problems; Deal With It. So I'm sitting here reflecting on what a great time this past weekend was for me. To think that less than a month ago we were struck with the trajedy that we all have had to deal, and are still dealing with, in some way or form. From the financial to life losses incurred by the terrorist attack, we all are doing an amazing job of holding it together, I think. What has impressed and amazed me the most, has been the outpouring of support and care from EVERYONE in our country. Personally, I can speak of the care my fellow Long Islanders have shown. From relief drives to actual bodies helping with the search and rescue effort, I can't speak of such a display of love for their fellow man that could even come close to what is happening currently. It is with this in mind that I'd like to focus for a moment on a bit of negativity that I experienced over the weekend. I was at a party and overheard some people talking about a fellow Long Island band that is pretty well known. The people, who shall remain nameless here, were basically putting down every aspect of this band to the point of making personal attacks on the members and then comparing them to Limp Bizkit and that was when I could tolerate the discussion no more. Mind you, the band they were talking about are friends of mine. However, I am a fan of them, also. So I defended the band and their sound to only be refuted on my opinion with reasons that could only amount to one thing: Jealousy. Why the hell does everyone in this "scene" have to act so negatively towards any of the bands who might actually make it off this sandbar and go somewhere with their art? It's almost as if people think that a band from here being somewhat successful, even on an indie level, is selling out on themselves, the fans, and the "scene", in general. Scenesters, more often than not, are ritualistic jerks who break the very code they preach by wearing the same clothes, listening to the same bands, and, be it conciously or subconciously, discriminating against anyone who doesn't look, talk, or sound the part. Is my shirt tight enough? Do I have the right spiked belt on? Are my sneakers the scene flavor of the minute? It's absolutely ridiculous that we allow such hypocrisy to carry on. Regardless of your being a fan or not, you should support these bands because they, wether you like it or not, represent you and me and everyone else here, to the world. Ok, so you don't like the music. That's fine. Don't personally attack the whole band because ONE member might've said something shitty to you. Every band is made up of INDIVIDUALS with separate personalities and characteristics. Just because you think the singer is an asshole doesn't mean that the drummer is a shithead. Have you ever tried to talk to anyone else in the band? I doubt it. Maybe the bassist is a jerk. Chances are, the guitarist might be a pretty cool dude. However, many of you don't give yourself the chance to find out. It's so much easier to just lump them all into one so you can justify having a bad attitude toward them. Don't get me wrong; I'm just as guilty of this behavior as everyone else. However, I at least recognize that it's a bad way to be and I'm trying to fix that aspect of my behavior. I hate using this space as a place for venting things that seriously bother me, but I'm doing this with the hope that maybe someone will read it and reflect on their own actions. I know it's not very popular to be an optimist, but I think if more us were supportive of each other, we might actually see more of the bands from the "scene" make it somewhere. Just because a band might be getting signed to a large indie label doesn't mean they aren't going to say hello to you at the local shows. Just because a band did a world tour with a very well known band, doesn't mean they are conceited assholes. The one thing that everyone seems to forget and disregard is that we all got into this for one reason: The love of music. If we didn't love what we're doing("we" meaning ANY of the bands you see at the small local shows), I think it's safe to assume that we would've given up a long time ago. Personally, I've been playing with these guys in some shape or form since 1994 and as a solid unit since 1995. That's almost 7 years we've been doing this. Granted, most of the bands that we're lucky enough to gig with have been together for usually 2 years or less, but I'm sure they've all been in other bands prior to their present situation. Hell, even if they haven't, that doesn't mean they love it any less. Let's band together, people. Let's cut the petty jealousy and squabbling. Let's start supporting each other. If you're one of the scenesters talking smack, stop, now. You're not helping anyone. If you're one of the bands who is doing it because "it's cool" to be in an "emo" or "indie" band, stop, now. You're not helping yourself by being something because it suddenly is the flavor of the minute. If you're one of the bands who cares only about yourselves and could care less if all of the places to play, the fans, and the other bands disappeared one day, then stop, now. You're causing more problems for those who actually care about the only things that matter in this "scene": MUSIC AND FRIENDSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! One of the greatest benefits I've been lucky enough to receive is the friendship of many people I probably wouldn't have met without being a part of this "scene". Without each other we have nothing, so let's cut the crap. Most of us probably weren't the "cool" kid in school. Some of us probably didn't have many friends. Now, you're a bit older, or maybe still young, but you've stumbled upon this great community of friends who all share a mutual love for music and friendship. Please don't mess it up by being a negative fool and making the fans who come to the shows, the owners who allow us to hold shows for little or no money, and/or the bands who take the time to haul all of their own gear, as well as, sharing anything another band on the bill might need and supplying, at times, the PA system, wish you weren't around. You know the old saying "Check it at the door"? Well please do just that with any bad vibes you have. We're all in this together. Let's make it as good, in reality, as we say it is to everyone we talk to about it, that is outside of it. You never know what'll happen. You might, one day, find YOURSELF on the receiving end of the trash talking you're doing. For any of you who stayed on for the long haul of this blog, I thank you for your time and attention that could've been spent doing something else. Instead, you chose to spend it with me and I appreciate that. Chances are, if you're reading this, you probably aren't one of the negative, close-minded meatheads I spoke about earlier. For THAT, I thank you, as well. Without people like you, I would've given up on the local scene a long time ago. I also want to thank everyone who came down to see us and the other bands, Lou for being the man, Rembrandts for allowing shows to be held there, and anyone who anything to do with yesterday being another great time in my life. Thank you. I've been working on this post, on and off, for over an hour and a half, so I guess I'll go back to working steadily. I hope you all are having a great day and we'll see you guys on the 6th. I'll be sending out a mailer about it this week. If you're not on the mailing list already, please sign up. Later all. |
